HISTORY - Started in 1999 by an Australian woman who owned and operated it for 13 years. In October of 2012 she told a group of former employees that she was planning on closing the hostel on the first of November. These friends couldn't bear the thought of such a special place disappearing, so they decided that night to buy the hostel.

This group of 5 friends are from 4 different countries; Luciano is Italian from Napoli (Torre del grecco), Jeremie is French from Lyon, Gerrad is American from Seattle, Rachel and Gabrielle are both from New Zealand (Auckland).

Over the past years we have expanded the hostel and there are now a total of 4 dorm rooms and 5 private rooms spread over two floors. As the hostel evolves we will nurture the charming and welcoming spirit that made it so special to us and gives the guests a home away from home.

Hostel amenities

Just off of the bustling thoroughfare of Via Toleda, with its fashionable Italian Boutiques, Cafes, and Gelato shops is a typical narrow street of Naples where laundry hangs out of every window. Inside one of these buildings made of volcanic stone is our hostel; clean, welcoming, and charming. It is a place we strive to make comfortable, safe, and dynamic for everyone; somewhere you can interact and relax. Despite the name, the rooms are actually large, bright and airy; 5 meter high ceilings keep the rooms cool in the summer and the 3 meter tall windows provide sunlight and plenty of fresh air. There are no bunk beds and plenty of space, including lockers, so you can stretch and reprise from your travels, while getting a good night sleep. We also offer inexpensive private rooms if you need a place of your own. Our large communal kitchen is fully equipped so whether you are preparing snacks for the day or making dinner for the entire hostel everything is available for your use. Neighborhood

LOCATION - We are right in the centre of town.

You will be within walking distance to all the important monuments of Naples, stone buildings of 18th century, Castel San Martino with spectacular views of the city, the National Archaeological museum, and many more famous and contemporary sites. Street Vendors and Food Markets abound in our location, everything you want is literally around the corner.

Though the subway is quite good and located very near the hostel, a real pleasure of Naples is navigating the streets by foot to see and experience things you won't find in your guidebook. You will pass the original historical center, built during Geek antiquity nearly 3, 000 years ago and monuments dating from during 19th Century as you venture to and from 6 small rooms. If you desire to explore the entire Bay of Naples (Pompeii, Capri, Procida, Sorrento, Almafi Coast) you will be in an excellent location to access local boats, trains, and busses to visit all these popular places.

At night you can go out to one of the many local lively piazzas full of students, interesting bars, cheap delicious street food, and historical monuments. There is a wonderful piazza only 50 meters away with a beautiful fountain in front of a monumental building that now operates as a major police station. You can relax and enjoy the evening with drinks, fellow guests, and locals in the shadow of the hostel; knowing that you are in one of safest location in the entire city.

How to get there

LOCATION - We are right in the centre of town.

CENTRAL STATION
Buy a ticket from the machine OR from a tabaccaio AND VALIDATE IT. Take the METRO LINE 1 to the stop TOLEDO. It is the third stop from metro stop Garibaldi (This metro stop is located about 100m outside the central train station). DO NOT TAKE LINE 2. Please note the metro opens around 6:30am and closes around 10:30pm.
Exit the station to the right, this will bring you onto Via Toledo, continue in this direction, the big H&M store should be ahead of you on the left hand side of the road. About 250meters up you will hit a big piazza which Via Toledo cuts through called Piazza Carita (there is a big square bronze sculpture on the right and you will see burger king.
Keep walking and after the piazza you need to take the SECOND street on your right Via Tomaso sinese (you will see a store named 'Calabrese' on the corner - the sign is green and white), once you are on Via Tomaso Senise take the first right and this is our TINY street Via Diodato Lioy, 18. We are about half way down on the right.

AIRPORT
Directly outside the arrivals terminal there is a direct bus to the center of Napoli called ALIBUS. This bus starts at 6:30am until 11:40pm, it leaves every 15-20mins and the journey takes 15-35 mins. You can buy tickets on the bus directly, they cost €4 one way. There are two stops, first the central train station (Garibaldi) and secondly the Port (piazza Municipio). You will need to go to the port, our hostel is a 15min walk from there.

When you get off the bus you will find yourself in front of a large castle. There is currently construction happening next to the castle so you must take the walkway (which is between the castle and the construction site); this path will lead you to the main entrance of the castle. With the castle at your back use the pedestrian crossing to get across the street, and then walk about 5m to your right and take the first street on your left (Via Santa Brigada). This will lead you to the main thoroughfare Via Toledo. Take a right and continue in this direction, about 750 meters up you will hit a big piazza which Via Toledo cuts through called Piazza Carita (there is a big square bronze sculpture on the right and you will see burger king).

If you prefer to get a taxi from the airport you have to be digilent in Napoli and make sure they put on the meter! The price varies on time (before 6:00am and after 10:00pm it starts on €6. 30). Bags cost an extra €1 each and there is a €4 airport fee. In total it should be between €20 – €30 and take a maximum of 15-20mins. Ask for Piazza Carita.
