Description - Bed and breakfast

We created Cornerstones some 32 years ago from a building built in Victorian England; pursuing the age tradition and elegance we've mixed it with a contemporary feel.

We assure you of a warm welcome, a relaxed ambiance and a comfy cosy bed to curl up in, a good traditional English breakfast with lashing of tea and coffee to set you up for the day.

Once inside this warm cosy and tranquil dwelling you will begin to unwind and relax.
There's plenty of information on the surrounding area and help is always at hand if you can't find what you're looking for.

We love a challenge and delight in helping you plan you're day, suggesting great drives or booking restaurants and taxi's.

On the way to the station you'll pass over the canal which has a walk way beside it, where you can see the old coal barges and more modern additions, there's a rowing club and Walton Park just off the canal if you walk to the right. Walton Park is renowned for it's miniature steam engine railway which is loved by children and old enthusiasts alike.

Room amenities

In Victorian Briton large houses where plush, big and full of character. The Cornerstones was in flats when we bought it full of brown bathroom suites, partition walls and concealed fire places, with rooms split in two and three in some cases.

All we really did was to remove all the partitioned walls and the rooms back their space, so the rooms are large with high ceilings, each one is individually decorated with a mixture of Victorian and modern design features.

Neighborhood

The Cornerstones is located in the leafy suburb of Sale to the South of Manchester. Close to all amenities with a bus stop that takes you to the city a few meters away from our front door, and the metro is just around the corner at Brooklands station. The centre of Sale is quite walkable and has an abundance of shops, supermarkets, it's own library and theater.

Unless otherwise specified, booking payments are non-refundable.

To confirm a booking we need your credit card details, we do not take any money form your card it's there purely to secure your booking.

48 hours notice is require for booking of 1 to 3 days anything more than three days requires 7 days notice.

Should a guest simply not turn up without giving any notice the whole sum will be taken from the credit card provided

How to get there

The Cornerstones is located in the leafy suburb of Sale in South Manchester

Location is paramount to your visit to Manchester and the Cornerstones is ideally positioned; from a areal view were surrounded by four Motorways M6, M56, M60 & M62.

Coming from the North by Car

From what ever direction you come you can't miss the M60 ring road; from the north leave the M60 at junction seven (J7) and follow the signs for Altrincham (ALL-TRING-HAM); you will come to a T junction at the end of the slip road; turn right on to the A56.

The Cornerstones is on the A56 2. 5 miles down the road; however you need to locate the car park at the rear of the building so look out for the Vine pub on your left . Once past the pub you come to a set of traffic lights, turn right at the lights on to Harboro Way then take the first left on to Harboro Road, which is a dead end, however the last turning on the left is the Cornerstones car park.

Coming from the South by Car

Pick up the M56 and get off at J7; you'll come to a large roundabout, follow the sign for Altrincham (ALL-TRING-HAM) on to A56. At this point if you where to set your mileomitter to zero the Cornerstones is 4. 5 miles down the A56, which will put you out side the front of the building.
To get to the car park at the rear, go past the building and turn left at the first set of traffic lights, which are more or less in front of you when you pass the building, on to Harboro Way. Then take the first left on to Harboro Road, which is a dead end, however the last turning on the left is the Cornerstones car park.

If your coming by Train

Once you come in to Piccadilly or Victoria Station just ask a porter where you can pick up the Metro to Brooklands station.
When you arrive at Brooklands station the exit will point you in the direction of the car park, once in the car park turn left and walk over the bridge the train as just come under.
Walk down the road (Marsland Road) to the traffic lights at the bottom of the hill, cross the main road and turn left on to the road you've just crossed.
The Cornerstones Guest House is on the next corner. Altogether it's just a 5 minute walk
